Born out of a family business, we continue our progression underpinned by a set of principles laid down by our founder, Peter Astley.

Peter was employed in the foam industry over many years when he recognised foam as a growing market and that foam manufacturers were improving their products, both from quality and regulatory perspectives.  He identified foam as a key component in many developing products, especially comfort applications that must remain safe and durable – he wanted to commit his future working life to the foam industry and set about planning to start his own business.

The original business established by Peter was founded in 1997, trading as J&A Foam Suppliers and started in the corner of a friends factory with a band knife loaned to him.  In its formative years the family business grew modestly, ably supported by partner Linda with help from their two children Justin and Anna – both of whom continue in employment with the company today.

To cope with an ever increasing workload, the business secured larger premises in 2009 when Peter invested in property on the established Whitebirk Industrial Estate in Blackburn.  Today the company operates two sites across Blackburn and Ribble Valley.

With a growing reputation and orderbook, J&A Foam registered as a limited company in 2015.

Having worked beyond retirement age Peter took the decision, during the chaos of a 2020 covid pandemic, to take a step back from day-to-day tasks and appreciate more time doing the things he enjoys that had always taken a backseat because of ongoing work commitments.  Peter now enjoys a part-time role and continues to share his knowledge, helping shape the business for future sustainable success.

In Q4 2023, J&A Foam rebranded as Vaditeq – stepping beyond a quarter of a century of history and guided by a new management team.  Vaditeq is set to evolve beyond a reputation for delivering high quality converted polyurethane foams to the upholstery sector.  With our strategy of continual investment and improvement, we aim to build upon our core activities for sustainable growth, targeting new sectors and creating value for all stakeholders for many more years to come.

Our accomplishments are not wholly based on the high quality of our work… the values we uphold are the guiding principles behind what we do and have a meaningful lasting impact for people and businesses that come into contact with us, our service and brands.

With a committed team that takes great pride in their work, we will continue to bring energy and fresh ideas to support every individual project – big and small.
